Alankrita looked around at all of them.
Her original friends.
The former gossip group.
The people who had worried outside hospital rooms.
The people who had carried her to safety.
The people who had become family.
Then she smiled.
"I thought maybe..."
Everyone leaned closer.
"...you might want to know Baby Pumpkin's gender."
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Then,
"YES!"
Oliver almost shouted it.
Chloe gasped dramatically.
Porter nearly dropped his coffee.
Sam looked personally betrayed.
"You knew already and didn't tell us?"
Alankrita laughed.
"I only found out yesterday."
Chloe clasped her hands together.
"Boy or girl?"
Mei Lin smiled.
"She wouldn't call us here if she was going to simply tell us."
Everyone looked confused.
Alankrita quietly opened the box she had brought with her.
Inside sat slices of cake.
Perfectly white frosting.
Nothing visible.
"Eat," she said.
Sam's eyes widened first.
"Oh my God."
Everyone looked at him.
"The colour inside."
He pointed at the cake.
"Blue means boy."
"Pink means girl."
The entire group suddenly became very serious.
